Demystifying Revi: Dr. Giusto on Revi’s predictable procedure for urge incontinence
Dr. Laura Giusto shares how hands-on lab training played a crucial role in building her confidence, ensuring she delivers reproducible results for her patients.
In this video, Dr. Giusto addresses common concerns physicians may have about performing a tibial nerve implant procedure on patients with urge urinary incontinence (UUI), particularly when operating in an unfamiliar area like the ankle. She shares that clearly understanding the anatomy is key and is within the realm of capabilities for urologists and urogynecologists.
Dr. Giusto felt more confident after attending hands-on training provided by BlueWind Medical. She appreciated getting into the lab and learning the anatomy since once the anatomy was better understood, the procedure became simple and reproducible and the tibial nerve easy to find. In training, physicians practice over and over, to the point of forgetting why the procedure was initially thought to be difficult. Because the Revi procedure is reproducible with only a small incision, Dr. Giusto believes that it’s worth taking a little extra time to learn the skills needed to provide a patient with the best outcome.
